I would highly recommend Barbara Sternau to others. I owned a large contemporary home in Westchester, NY. Barbara worked on the renovation of the kitchen, the design for a new full bathroom, and renovated our master bedroom. She helped with other smaller projects like new carpeting for two stairways, a new color for a large front door, new window treatments. All of these worked out very successfully. Recently we sold the house in a difficult market. It only took two weeks to have a deal. All the realtors raved about the décor which definitely helped sell the house. I then downsized to an apt. I would have liked to buy new furnishings but decided to use what I had. Barbara measured each room, decided what I should keep and created a stunning layout. It was a real feat. She selected new window treatment, carpeting, and decided where the art work would be hung. I'm really enjoying the space and decor. Barbara listens carefully to your wants and needs. She has always worked within my budget. She's very knowledgeable about new products and design ideas. She's particularly about the workmen and shops that do work for her. Barbara has loads of charm and a great sense of humor and has always been a pleasure to work with.

I have worked with Barbara now on two occasions. -- summer of 2014 to re-design and decorate my living room, office and master bedroom. This was a major project. Barbara was very professional throughout the whole project- we discussed design options, cost estimates, samples etc. Her towering strength is her creativity and ability to re-imagine space to meet client needs. Additionally, she was a good communicator throughout the whole project and process. There were no surprises. I am so happy in my new space....two years + later, I still feel the same way. I am proud to have people come into my house - I always get the "wow" reaction, too. I hired Barbara recently (August 2016) to completely redesign my Master Bathroom. Again - we discussed my goals and she came back with a very exciting, creative and practical design that was recently completed. I love it. The space feels so different and works perfectly. I love working with her. I highly recommend her and will hire her again when I start my next project.

Outstanding decorator, used now on 4 major projects. Flexible with different styles, and different spend levels. Knowledgeable about all aspects - fabrics, colors, furniture and placement, accessories, etc. Creative use of multiple sources such as classic decorator sources, retail products, use of antiques or pre owned items, etc. Designs lovely built ins when needed. Easily works with others such as architects or contractors. I highly recommend her for projects from small to very large.
